    ## ABB's Zibo Plant in China Sets New Standard in Low-Carbon Manufacturing

At ABB's Zibo plant in Shandong province, China, measurable energy savings and emission reductions are being achieved through the use of advanced digital energy management and electrification solutions.

As of March 5, 2026, thanks to sustainability-focused energy efficiency, electrification, renewable energy, and digital energy management strategies, the plant has achieved annual energy savings of 71 MWh and reduced CO₂ equivalent emissions by over 63 tons. This amount is enough to meet the monthly electricity demand of hundreds of average homes.

    ### Energy Efficiency and Digitalization

LED lighting systems have been implemented throughout the plant, air conditioning systems have been optimized based on real-time occupancy data, and energy-saving control systems have been applied to air compressors. These innovations have increased operational efficiency while reducing both costs and carbon emissions. Digitalization and smart energy management have proven to accelerate low-carbon manufacturing.

    ### ABB Zibo Plant Features

    • Production of wiring accessories for the Smart Building portfolio
    • Real-time monitoring, analysis, and optimization of energy consumption with the ABB energy management system
    • Approximately 15% of the plant's energy needs are met by renewable electricity generated from photovoltaic (PV) panels installed on its roofs
    • Use of fully renewable energy through renewable energy and certified green electricity purchases
    • ISO 50001 Energy Management System certification
    • Registered as a "Green Factory" by the Zibo Municipality

    ### Sustainability and Circular Economy

The Zibo plant has implemented waste reduction and recycling practices and aims to achieve UL2799 Zero Waste certification by the end of 2026. This reinforces its commitment to responsible resource use and sustainable production.

ABB's Zibo plant joins the global Mission to Zero network, which includes sites in Europe, America, and Asia, becoming a pioneer in low-carbon, energy-efficient, and digitalized manufacturing operations.

As a global technology leader in electrification and automation, ABB supports a sustainable and resource-efficient manufacturing future. With over 140 years of experience and more than 110,000 employees, ABB continues to deliver high-performance and efficient solutions.
