    ## Precise Measurement on Glass Surfaces with a 3D Sensor

SmartRay has introduced its new 3D sensor, the ECCO X 050G, which enables precise measurement of reflective and transparent surfaces in industrial production. This sensor specifically allows for high-precision in-line inspection of challenging materials like glass.

    ### Challenges: Inspection of Reflective and Transparent Surfaces
In-line metrology systems used for quality control in fast-paced production lines struggle to measure shiny and transparent materials using traditional 3D laser triangulation methods. In the electronics, automotive, and optical sectors, accurate inspection of these surfaces is critical for product quality and process reliability.

    ### Technology: 3D Scanning for Reflective Materials
The ECCO X 050G integrates SmartRay's glass scanning technology into the ECCO X platform, enabling high-resolution and high-speed measurement on shiny and transparent surfaces. The use of a blue laser with a 450 nm wavelength enhances data acquisition performance on reflective surfaces, providing consistent 3D results where traditional methods struggle.

    ### ECCO X 050G Technical Specifications
    • Maximum scan speed: 40 kHz
    • Number of data points: 163 million per second
    • Vertical resolution: 2.2–2.9 µm
    • Horizontal resolution: 11–13 µm
    • Points per profile: 4,096
    • Measurement range: 15 mm

    ### Design: Compact and Suitable for Integration
Its compact design allows for easy integration into production lines with space constraints. With Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, encoder interfaces, and configurable input/output options, it can synchronize with industrial systems. Flexible triggering and data acquisition capabilities ensure compatibility with automated inspection processes.

    ### Application Areas
It is used in areas requiring precise measurement of reflective and transparent surfaces, such as mobile device components, semiconductors, camera and eyeglass lenses, and automotive glass (e.g., windshields). This elevates quality control in manufacturing processes.

    ### Conclusion
The ECCO X 050G expands the in-line 3D metrology product family, enabling fast and precise measurements even on challenging surfaces. This innovation enhances inspection speed and accuracy for complex products, improving quality control and process optimization in industrial production.
