Kollmorgen is expanding its motion solutions with the new AKME servo motor series, developed for use in hazardous environments. Additionally, it offers significant improvements in functional safety for linear motors and axes with the SafeMotion Monitor 3.0 software update.

AKME servo motors are ATEX and IECEx certified for use in hazardous areas such as gas Zone 2 and dust Zone 22. These certifications are critical for safe operation in environments with flammable and explosive vapors. Designed to prevent vapor ingress into the motor and without an open fan housing, these motors do not cause ignition due to overheating.

This update supports the EnDat 2.2 protocol, providing more advanced error detection, high-speed data transfer, and enhanced diagnostic tools for bidirectional rotary encoders. The safety level is maintained in accordance with SIL 3 standards, and programming has been updated to these standards.
