## INMOCO: Superior Performance of Electric Linear Actuators in Industry
Electric linear actuators are becoming the preferred choice for precise and repeatable motion solutions, providing superior performance over hydraulic and pneumatic systems in demanding industrial environments.
These actuators, which offer clean and stable control even under harsh conditions, are increasingly replacing hydraulic and pneumatic systems. According to INMOCO engineer Gerard Bush, modern electric actuators combine high force capability with a sealed design, ensuring reliability, low maintenance, and high control accuracy.
### High Force Capability and Precision
Electric linear actuators create less backlash, friction, and mechanical play compared to rotary motors and linkage systems. Advanced models can apply 294 kN (66,000 lbf) of force, competing with hydraulic solutions while offering a more compact design. Integrated trunnions help control shock loads in heavy industrial applications.
On the other hand, hydraulic systems are sensitive to oil viscosity and seal wear, while pneumatic systems are prone to condensation and freezing. Electric actuators, however, can operate reliably in temperatures from -0°C to over 100°C thanks to special motor windings, sealed bearings, and proper lubrication.
### Sealed Body for Long Lifespan
One of the biggest advantages of electric actuators is their fully sealed body. This design protects against dust, moisture, and corrosion, ensuring precise positioning performance. Many models have an IP69K protection rating, making them suitable for high-pressure and high-temperature cleaning processes.
In contrast, exposed rods and seals in hydraulic and pneumatic systems are more susceptible to wear and contamination and require extra protection.
### Proven Performance in Industrial Sectors
In a steel foundry, rod-style electric actuators with a 66 kN (15,000 lbf) capacity replaced hydraulic solutions, eliminating oil leaks and reducing maintenance-related downtime.
In railway applications, special servo-controlled actuators improved wheel steering systems for high-speed trains by meeting fire, smoke, and vibration standards.
Additionally, stainless steel actuators equipped with PTFE seals for corrosive battery production environments enhance chemical resistance.
### Hygienic and Contamination-Free Operation
In the food production sector, electric actuators eliminate the risk of contamination caused by hydraulic oil leaks. Stainless steel and IP69K certified models offer an ideal solution for processes requiring intensive cleaning, such as cutting and packaging.
High precision, ease of maintenance, and durable sealed design make electric linear actuators the preferred technology for demanding industrial, hygienic, and heavy-duty applications.
