Baumüller will introduce its high-torque, all-electric drive system for shredding machines in the recycling industry at IFAT 2026. This system aims to offer high efficiency and low maintenance costs to machine manufacturers and operators.

Developed on the PowRex drive package, this solution combines DST2 high-torque motors with b maXX servo drives, enabling efficient and energy-saving operation in demanding shredding applications. Replacing hydraulic systems and standard asynchronous motors, this all-electric system eliminates hydraulic hoses and lubrication needs, reducing mechanical complexity.

Compared to belted or standard motor systems, wear-prone parts like belts and pulleys are also eliminated with this system, minimizing maintenance requirements and downtime.

The system is currently used in WEIMA’s W5 and W8 series shredding machines, particularly in the W8.15 PowerLine model.
