## 2026 American Control Conference: Control Systems and Distributed Control Workshops
The 2026 American Control Conference (ACC) will offer significant workshops that advance innovations and applications in the field of control.
Organized by the American Automatic Control Council (AACC), the ACC will take place from May 26-29, 2026, at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside. The event is supported by the International Society of Automation (ISA) and 8 other professional societies.
The conference, where approximately 1300 participants will discuss research and innovations, will last four days. The workshops held on the first day aim to bridge the gap between research and application, providing valuable content for practitioners, innovators, and educators.
### Featured Workshops
1. Practical Control Systems Methods
- There is a known gap between control theory and practice.
- Today, with IoT, autonomous systems, and evolving sensor platforms, feedback control applications are rapidly increasing.
- This workshop enables practitioners to improve their processes using best practices and researchers to reliably implement their work.
2. Nonlinear Optimization Techniques for Engineering
- Optimization plays a fundamental role in control actions, modeling, and product design.
- It explains the practical aspects of multivariate, constraint-managed, nonlinear optimization.
- It focuses on empowering users to make informed decisions in objective function, constraints, and algorithm selection.
3. Pyomo.DoE: An Open-Source Python Tool for Optimal Experimental Design
- Experiments for digital twins and model-based control are expensive and limited.
- This workshop introduces an open-source framework called Pyomo.DoE, automating experimental design.
- It treats experimental inputs as decision variables for complex dynamic systems.
4. Hands-on Training in Distributed Control with the DERConnect Testbed
- Provides training on control algorithms to be used in distributed energy resources and energy systems on the NSF-supported DERConnect platform.
- Aims to equip participants with the ability to conduct realistic power system studies.
### Registration and Additional Information
- Conference registration is not mandatory for workshop registrations.
- All workshop programs and details can be accessed via the ACC website.
These workshops add value to the industry by combining academic knowledge with field applications in the area of control systems.
